Aloo Patty Submarine Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 4Sub rolls
  • 4 mediumPotatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 smallOnion, finely chopped (patty)
  • 2Green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tspGinger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tspGaram masala
  • 1 tspRed chilli powder
  • 1 tspCoriander powder
  • 1 tspChaat masala
  • 1 tspSalt
  • 2 tbspCoriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tspLemon juice
  • 3 tbspMaida (for binding)
  • 1 cupBread crumbs (for coating)
  • 3 tbspOil (for shallow frying)
  • 4 tbspMayonnaise
  • 2 tbspTomato ketchup
  • 1 smallOnion, sliced
  • 1 mediumTomato, sliced
  • 1 cupLettuce, shredded
  • 4Cheese slices
  • 1 tbspButter

Method

    Mix mashed potato with chopped onion, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, all dry spices, salt, coriander leaves, lemon juice and maida. Shape into 4 oblong patties.

    Roll each patty in bread crumbs, pressing to coat.

    Heat oil in a pan. Shallow-fry the patties 3 minutes per side until deep golden and crisp.

    Slit sub rolls and toast cut-side down in butter.

    Whisk mayo and ketchup together for the dressing. Spread inside each sub.

    Layer cheese, lettuce, tomato slice, place a hot aloo patty in the centre, then top with onion slices.

    Close, press, slice in half and serve immediately.
