Ingredients
- 6Bread slices (thick)
- 2Eggs
- 1/2 cupMilk
- 2 tbspSugar
- 1/4 tspCardamom powder
- 1/4 tspCinnamon powder
- 1/2 tspVanilla essence
- a pinchSalt
- 3 tbspGhee or butter
- as neededHoney or maple syrup (to serve)
Method
- 1
In a wide bowl whisk eggs, milk, sugar, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla and salt until smooth.
- 2
Heat a non-stick pan on medium-low. Add 1 tbsp ghee.
- 3
Dip a bread slice in the egg mixture for 5 seconds per side — just enough to soak, not turn soggy. Let excess drip off.
- 4
Place the soaked slice on the hot pan. Cook 90 seconds until deep golden, then flip and cook the other side 60 seconds.
- 5
Repeat for all slices, adding more ghee as needed.
- 6
Serve hot, drizzled with honey or maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
