Ingredients

  • 1 shellBaked sweet or chocolate tart/pie shell
  • 1 1/2 cupsCrumbled chocolate cake
  • 1/4 cupChocolate truffle (ganache)
  • 2 tspCrushed walnuts (optional)
  • as neededWhipped cream or vanilla ice cream, to serve

Method

  1. 1

In a bowl combine the crumbled chocolate cake, slightly warmed chocolate truffle and walnuts. Mix with a fork until it clumps like wet sand — there should be no dry crumbs.

  2. 2

Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the baked pie shell — the firmer you press, the cleaner the slice.

  3. 3

Bake at 180°C for 20 minutes. The top should look glossy and a touch crackled.

  4. 4

Cool for 5 minutes — the centre will firm up but stay fudgy. Serve warm with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
